Week 12 – delve

spring2015 002delve: To undertake an activity or occupation undeterred by difficulty or uncertainty: delved into writing a blog.

A great week!  Our first big test was released on Monday and I sat down at my computer, with some trepidation, and took the test.  I finished it in 40 minutes (of the allotted two hours) and passed with a 97%!  I declared a holiday and have been on my Spring Break all week.  The azaleas are in full bloom and the sun has been shining and it is glorious here.  I wake up each morning being so very grateful that we live in this beautiful spot.

The other wonderful thing of this week is that daughter Margot arrived on spring2015 003Wednesday with grand puppy Brew in tow.  He is delightful and gets along so well with the other dogs and the cats. Miss Q, who is passionately devoted to Margot, has had her nose out of joint because of this new arrival but she decided that he was to be tolerated as long as he was with Margot.

Brew has had a lovely time tormenting Buckingham who is the gentlest of dogs and plays almost tirelessly with him.  Lots of walks on Oak Island and around the circle have kept us all active.  Margot’s partner Hadley arrived on Thursday night and we have been playing lots of golf and having just a wonderful time together.  Click Here for more Brew and Buck photos

This week I also decided to ramp up my exercise routine and added a Fitbit 001Charge HR to my repertoire of technology gizmos.  The fun part is seeing the number of steps that I walk in a day – including on the golf course despite riding in a cart.  The not so cool part is that I can wear it at night and it monitors my sleep which may or may not be a good thing.  I am still trying to figure it out but it has made me very conscious of how much I move during the day.  The goal is 10,000 steps and I have exceeded that each day that I have worn the Fitbit.

The two things that I did as part of school this week, besides taking the test, was that I had a phone conference with my accountability coach who lives in Wisconsin and I also had a phone health history call with a fellow classmate from Charlotte, NC.  I love talking to the folks who are from other parts of the country so this might be a big plus to taking a course on-line.  We have become a community through Facebook.  It is different from attending lectures together in one spot but we do chat on-line about the lectures and certainly about the anxiety surrounding taking the test.  So in the long run, not so different.

Next week we are back in the swing of things with a new module and new leaster2015 002ectures.  I have certainly enjoyed my Spring Break but am ready to jump back into studying and learning.  What I did learn was that delving into the work that has consumed the last 12 weeks showed me how much this has become a part of my life and what once was strange and new is now old and familiar.  It is an integral part of who I am and who I want to be.  Amazing, even today’s sermon at Easter Services, mentioned that concept of reinventing oneself and being the best you that you can be.

Happy Easter to all.  Have a great week.
