Pledge the Pink
Pledge the Pink
Katie and I completed 30 miles and we still have a smile on our faces. It was an incredible experience. Pledge the Pink, 3 days, 3 islands and 30 miles. We met some wonderful people and we walked more than we thought possible.
Would we do it again, you bet we will we are already signed up for next year.
Day 1- Daufuskie Island
Daufuskie Island. We arrived on Friday morning, very early and drove to Hilton Head where we took a bus and then a ferry to Daufuskie Island where the first 10 miles was to be walked. It was dark when we started out at 5:30 in the morning. The sunrise was lovely. The day was hot and humid and we knew to drink lots of water. In addition, we had bought some pink cooling towels called cooling towels. When wet they are very cool and we wrapped them around our necks which I think saved our lives.
Day 2 Callawassie Island
We hit our groove on day 2. We didn’t have to get up as early as we did for day 1 as we didn’t have to drive as far. The people on the island were so welcoming and full of fun. The cheers and all round support was really wonderful.
Day 3 Hilton Head
We started the day very early. Most of the walk was on the beach and we headed there at 6:30AM to watch the sunrise. It was glorious, cook, lovely breeze and the waves crashing on the shore. Magical. It was almost effortless to walk the last 10 miles.
The regular Health Coach blog will be back next week. In the meantime, thank you to one and all for your support. It meant the world to us.
