We left New Hampshire for a two week hiatus in the south. John’s cousin was traveling and asked if we would like to come and stay in the house and take care of their wonderful dog, Zeus, while they traveled. It would give us a chance to catch up with some of our southern friends. Well, we thought about it and realized the timing was great. We have construction outside our bedroom at Jenny Lane and we would have a chance to be somewhere a bit warmer and without construction – read a bathroom that is not a flight of stairs away. So we booked our tickets and off we went. Just before the next big storm came through New Hampshire.
A Big Birthday

On 2-2-22 our Jack turned 21. As you can see, his pals treated him to a legal beer at the local pub. I am still in awe that he is that old. We have been so blessed to have been a part of his life from the time he was born to now. I hope we continue to be a part of it but in an observation role. He is a really good guy and we are so very proud of him. He was happy with his buddies in Tennesee. His mother tried to get a cake for him to share with the gang. Not so easy from New Hampshire. She tried to get a cake with Happy Birthday Jack on it and she wanted some multicolored balloons See below for what she ended up with. I admit, they did their best but please make note of the balloons.

Update on Jenny Lane
We made some progress this week. Not construction wise but we had an opportunity to meet with the plumber and go over the plans for the water lines and the drains as well as the location of items in the laundry room. We also met with the kitchen/bath designer to talk about cabinets and sinks. I think we have a plan and one that will work well for the space. We have left it up to the guys to get together and make things happen. Plumbing, then wiring, then insulation and then walls. Windows need to be moved and with any luck we will go home and find some progress has been made.
Travel and Exercise

We had a very easy trip from New Hampshire to South Carolina. The airport was almost empty in Manchester, NH and the plane was less than half full. We stopped in BWI and again the airport was not crowded and the plane from there to Charleston was less than half full. No interruptions, we arrived half an hour early. We didn’t see any of the complications that other travelers have experienced in the last few weeks. The weather was even good. Our first couple of days in South Carolina the temperatures were in the high 60’s and low 70’s. Delightful for walking. I have been pushing really hard to catch up on my Pacific Crest Virtual Challenge. I got really far behind and was discouraged but the bike riding has given me 17 miles each day so I started to catch up. I’m currently at 57% of the distance in 61% of the time so I still have work to do to make my goal. Only 1045.9 miles to go and I have 211 days in which to do it.
