It feels more like September than November thanks to the wonderful warm temperatures we are experiencing. Today made it to 77F despite it being overcast. We were in Boston for the weekend and we ate outside for our dinner. I would not have imagined that we would be doing that and changing the clocks back. It doesn’t compute but it is wonderful. Wonderful walking weather.
Update on Jenny Lane

We started the week with our temporary shower curtain still in place. We have managed quite well for almost six weeks with a Rube Goldberg fix that John came up with using a broom pole, a few nails and clamps and I provided the shower curtain. It really did work and most of the water stayed in the shower!

On Tuesday the Claremont Glass folks came and installed the glass surround. What a difference. Every time something major happens we are always stopped in our tracks and asking whether this is the one thing that was the most transforming in the house. Since this really is the last major thing to be installed this feels big. It was the final piece in the puzzle of destroying the bathroom and laundry/furnace room that was started last December shortly before Christmas. Here’s what it looked like a mere 11 months ago. This was after we took down all the walls but left the toilet temporarily. That shower curtain sure has come in handy. Since there are now walls and ceilings and doors I can’t get a side by side comparison but suffice it to say it looked worse before it got better. Suffice it to say we are thrilled to be where we are this year versus last. Sometimes we forget what we actually had to live with.

Walking this Week

I cannot say more about walking this week other than it was perfect. The dogs and I did a 5+ mile walk on Friday before John and I went to Boston and I didn’t want to stop walking. The weather was glorious, almost too warm but not really, and the leaves under foot were just what you expect in the fall. We found some friends who are new neighbors next to Jenny Lane who had biked all the way out to where we walk in Potter Place on the Rail Trail. I was just a bit surprised to see them as it is a very long bike ride no matter how you go. They both have e-bikes which certainly help. What impressed me the most was the way they planned the ride so as to avoid the big roads and stick to the back ones. Route 11 is no fun to be on as there are often very big trucks and lots of cars going too fast for me to be comfortable. I hope to be able to go with them sometime but it probably won’t be until the spring.
No recipe this week as I didn’t do much in the kitchen and we’ve been away.
