Staying with the Grands

Chipmunk on a stump

Yesterday we arrived in New London to stay with our grands for two weeks while their Mum is in Argentina on business.  We love it here and with them so this is not a hardship.  However, things are very different this year.  Jack is in his first year as a freshman at Proctor Academy.  Libby is in her last year at the Elementary School.  Jack is so independent but with that comes a communication issue.  He was at school yesterday when we arrived and we needed to coordinate his return to home and pick up.  As it turned out he had turned his phone to silent while he charged it as he was watching a movie.  We could not reach him and there were a few moments of panic.  However.  He called finally at 9:30 and told us all was well but that he would come home with his carpool which was at 11PM.  This grandmother doesn’t see 11PM very often, in fact, I would say hardly ever.  So, I steeled myself to stay up until he got home to welcome him and then attempted to go to bed.  It was not successful.  I was so wired that sleep was non-existant.  By four in the morning I was so frustrated that I gave up.  Went to the livingroom and, of course, fell asleep on the couch.  I think I know now why we don’t have children when we are in our 60’s.  I can do the grandmother thing but no way I could do this day in and day out.  Whew!!!!

IMG_3931We have had the most beautiful September ever.  Wonderful pictures from our morning walks.  Every day.  It is lovely and warm in the sunshine and then cool enough to warrant a fire in the evening.  My kind of weather.

Course Work and Schools

I worked hard on my course work this week to make sure it was all done before I left to come to the US to visit and to be with the grands.  Most of the work was involved with how we might get involved with schools in our area and helping them to understand the importance of feeding children healthy food.  As it turned out I went to my old school for lunch on Thursday and while they offer lots of options for food I was still surprised to see them offering wonder bread that isn’t bread at all.  I mentioned this to the Head of School and he said that he thought it might be a good statement to get rid of the wonder bread and perhaps offer a healthy opportunity.  I felt as if I lived up to my course expectations.  Maybetwoangrymoms thereis more that I can do but we shall see.  It is a crying need to improve the food in schools and one step at a time we might make a difference.  If you want more information look up “Two Angry Moms”, you might find something that resonates with you.

Waiting for the big super moon to rise and the eclipse.  Might try and get a picture but it just never looks as amazing in a photograph as it does for real.

Free Consult

Please glouisecombinedive me a call or drop me a line via email if you are interested in doing a FREE one-hour Health Consultation.  I would love to talk to you and we can do it in person, over the phone or via Skype or Facetime.  We don’t have to be in the same part of the world.  I have been working with people from all over Canada and the US and as far away as Norway.  As I mentioned above, my coach lives in Vermont and she and I have a great relationship that was built using Skype. Have a wonderful week everyone,  I know I will especially if the weather stays the way it has been for the last 10 days.
