This week is vacation week so this may be late being posted. We are in Mexico with our good friends Tom and Rosemary Baxter. I mentioned them in last weeks blog. Here we are on the beach. It has been a challenge but I have been studying and am fascinated with Andrea Beaman’s take on modern macrobiotics. I knew nothing about macrobiotics until this course and find, now, that I intuitively live in a macrobiotic way. I love the outdoors, I need, in fact, crave, fresh air. When we live in Canada we sometimes find the temperature in our room when we wake up in the morning is about the same as outside. We always sleep with a window open. I rarely use air conditioning as I much prefer natures breezes. Here, in Mexico, we have dry air and beautiful breezes. However, at night the mosquitoes come out and there aren’t any screens. Sleeping is a challenge. The wall is splattered with tiny spots of blood from all the mosquitoes I killed before I finally gave in and closed the door and turned on the air. A sacrifice but at least we get to sleep now.
The fresh fish is delicious here and I have found that to be a staple of our meals. There are greens but until today I didn’t have a good salad. It is hard to travel and stick to my happy way of eating. In the macrobiotic way of eating I am trying to eat local foods. We are eating out almost every meal but I am trying to make good choices and not be hard on myself. Love the concept of chewing ones food maybe not 100 times but every mouthful at least 20 or more. It’s an experiment worth trying. Helps you digest your food and feel full sooner. Try it for a week and see.
Working on primary foods too. Enjoying our time with each other and with good friends (relationships), playing a little golf (exercise), loving the sunsets and the views (spirituality) and working on my IIN course (career). At the moment all things feel in balance!
I am constantly amazed at nature. We went whale watching and followed a mother and a father and their calf. The baby had learned to breach and he kept practicing with his parents right there next to him to protect him. It was an awe inspiring sight.
We will leave here with wonderful memories and, of course, hundreds of photos. I know I am blessed and very lucky to be here. The journey continues. Excuse me I have to finish up my work so I can go and play with my friends. Hope all have a good week.
