We are back in Canada again, or at least for a week anyway, and we have had the best weather. Hot and sunny, cloudless blue sky and very reminiscent of summer days. We left on Monday and drove to Lyndonville where we stopped for lunch. Poor Percy had thrown up in the back of the car (we couldn’t find his medicine and we hoped for the best) but he still wanted his ice cream and doggie cookies. Wyke and Bean remembered from the last time that they got a treat when we stopped at the Freighthouse Cafe for our coffee. As soon as we got to the lake they went swimming. Happy, happy dogs.
A Couple of Tough Walks
The grass is so high that I had trouble seeing the dogs. Can you see Percy in there somewhere? I’m sure you cannot see Bean. The biggest issue for me was not being able to see where I was putting my feet. I was happier when I remembered to take my hiking pole as it helped with balance but I don’t like that tall grass much. So far no ticks but they are out there I am sure. The water in the stream is very low but the dogs were still able to go for a shallow swim at Buck’s Corner. What a treat.
A Little Accident While Playing Ball
My skin is getting thinner as I get older and it showed this week. I was playing ball with the dogs down at the beach and I had the ball in my hand, ducked down to go under a bush as the dog jumped up to get the ball and he got my hand instead. My skin tore and was bruised but I had one of my well educated grand daughters here, Libby, who has a first aid course, and she took very good care of me. A few days later I had a video call with our resident EMT who said he thought all was well and it was healing but to try and keep it dry. Today I am so much better but am still being careful. From now on I only use the chuck-it to throw the ball. Besides, I throw like a girl and it doesn’t go very far.
A Sewing Project & A Fire
Jack is collecting patches and I made the mistake of telling him I could sew them on his sweatshirt from his time on the Sewanee Fire Rescue department. The latest patch comes from NHFA & EMS where he just graduated from. This past week he took an extended course with the academy and then returned home and went out with his department to a major fire in one of our local power plants. They didn’t get back in town until 4:00am.
A Great Recipe For You
Doesn’t this sound delicious? Olive The Above is a store in Beaufort, SC where I used to buy all my Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar. Every once in awhile they share a recipe and this one is just too good to pass up.
