Week 17 – South Again

We are back in South Carolina this week for a quick visit. Have had a wonderful time connecting with good friends, playing a little golf and generally eating a lot of shrimp. The world has opened up quite a bit here. 95% of the residents on our beautiful Dataw Island have been vaccinated as well as the staff who work here. This has made for a quick transition back to almost normal. We must wear a mask to go into the club house or other inside areas but no mask when eating or drinking and no mask outside. We are able to hug friends again and to enjoy the laughs and good catching up conversation. It is a good feeling. We both had eye doctor appointments while here (we love our eye doctors but it’s a long way to come) and know our eyes are healthy. For me it is to check on the continued success of the cataract surgery from three years ago and to make sure the dreaded AMD is not there – it is not! So all is good.

It is equally nice to be away from the dust and construction of Jenny Lane. The mudding and taping is all done in the living room, sun room and hall but the primer coat is not on yet. The painter went fishing instead!!! So not much to report from there. It will start up again in earnest when we get back north as the project for May is the kitchen. Oh goody!!!

Not doing any cooking this week at all. We have been able to eat at the club most evenings and for lunch. I have enjoyed my favorite Caesar Salad with Blackened Shrimp pretty much every time I have been there. However, this was French week and the Halibut Meuniere was fabulous. Fish, fish and more fish when in South Carolina.

Have a wonderful week everyone. Below is a picture of the magnolia tree in Montreal that blooms around my father’s birthday every year. It is early by about two weeks this year but still beautiful.
