Week 22 – Sunny May

We have had an atypical month of May. Some days I think we missed May altogether are went right into June and then there are days where we are back in April. However, mostly it has been beautiful weather and much warmer than we are accustomed to in May. This weekend we had a cool damp Saturday so the obvious thing to do was to have a fire. It was at least a cheery site as the rains came down and the wind cooled things off.

Big News at Jenny Lane

The yellow is gone and the first coat of the new color has been applied. We are all thrilled. It seems it has been a long time coming for us to see some improvement on the outside of the house. The trim and the second coat will be done this week. The trim is Navaho White, almost a creamy white and the windows are pure white. I think it looks great so we are going to head down to see it in person and get caught up on a couple of things. We can now plant some flowers to pretty things up a bit. If anyone has any ideas about what we can do in front of the front door and the windows in the Bonus room we are open to suggestions. I want a porch of some kind, others suggested a patio, a mixture of grass and driveway, any ideas greatly appreciated.

The Kitchen Cabinets are Done at Lakeside Cottage

John finished installing the drawer pulls in the kitchen during the rain on Saturday. You never know what will hold up a project but this time it was the length of the screws he needed. There were none to be had that he could find so he had to wait until a new order came in. It looks so nice to have it all finished and no more breaking nails trying to open the drawers. Meanwhile he is back to repairing all the wooden chairs that we have for the outside porch and the dock. Everyone of them needed to be put back together again. Three years without attention really showed.

A Few Great Walks

We had a mix of hill walks and village walks this week. My cousin has a wonderful property here that has surprises around every corner. We came upon this installation and Wyke was afraid of the silver ball. I think he could see himself in it and didn’t know what to make of it. Eventually he realized it was harmless and went about the rest of his exploration. When we went for one of our village walks someone had a drone that followed me which really freaked me out. I did not like it at all. I understand there is a drone etiquette but obviously this person was not aware of it. Once I took a picture of it he actually flew away.

If you go to the page you will see a lot of adds on it so I cut and paste the pictures and recipe here to save you (and me) the trouble. Enjoy!

The water is not green, it is just the reflection of the trees and the shore.
