Week 33 – Puppy running free!

That which was lost has been found!

Bracken

John and I are just back from spending 2 1/2 hours walking through our woods looking for my friend and neighbor’s dog, Bracken.  Bracken ran away yesterday afternoon while my friend Ann and her husband were visiting their son who lives close to an area that I walk in on a regular basis.  We set out with our two dogs thinking that perhaps Bracken would hear us or smell the dogs and be curious about us enough to come and find us.  It was quite a trek and at the two hour mark we were ready to be home.  I was convinced, absolutely convinced, that I was going to find her.  She is my dog, Miss Q’s sister, and was my first love and the reason that I got Miss Q.  Bracken is a full sister but a year older than Miss Q.  I really was quite upset that she was missing.  We were at the exhausteddogsend of the walk and because of circumstances we needed to go out onto the road to get to our driveway.  I turned to John and said that I was bitterly disappointed that I had not found Bracken despite whistling and calling and walking so many miles.  I told him that I was convinced I was going to find her.  I even had an extra collar and leash with me.  We were about 50 yards from our driveway when a white station wagon stopped and a woman rolled down her window and asked us if we knew someone who had a dog that looked like my dog.  I said “yes” and then she said “did she lose her dog?” and I said “yes” and she said “Well, I have her in the back seat of my car!”  You could have picked me up off the ground.  Bracken was back safe and sound.  We called my friend Ann to tell her we had Bracken and we took her home to much fanfare.  Ann said she had been at church and had heard that a woman had found a little dog yesterday and had brought her to a memorial service at the church and was asking people if they knew the dog.  So Ann knew she was alive but how she got her back was really amazing. So little dog running free is home again and happy as can be.  So are we!!!

It has been a good week.  I loved one of our lectures that was about “The Blue Zones” by Dan blue-zones-book-2-200x303Buettner.  Dan worked with National Geographic to find the areas in the world where people live the longest.  He coined the phrase “The Blue Zones” and after finding the areas where people live the longest he has gone on to define why they do and is now working on projects around the United States to transform cities and even states into Blue Zones.  If you want to know how long you might live you can take the Blue Zone longevity test.  I took it and my results came back that my biological age is 55.9 years, that I can expect to live to 100, my healthy life expectancy (free of cancer, heart disease and diabetes is 66 years (ha, they nailed that one didn’t they?), and my accrued years is 15.3 years due to my life habits.  They had no recommendations to make my life better.  I am lucky and feel very blessed to have a wonderful family and very good friends around me.  I guess that really counts for a lot.

IMG_8609 We have had some of the most interesting weather this summer andIMG_8613 this particular rainbow was a result of a group of storms that went through the area and the sun came out inbetween the storms.  The water was so still that the reflection was perfect.  It actually made a complete circle which I could not capture with my camera.  Here is the other side.  I wish I had been able to get the whole thing because now I know why I can’t find the pot of gold, the rainbow has no end.

It has been a week of mixed activities.  I did have a potential client consultation on Monday and a client consult on Thursday that was one of the best yet.  I  love what I do and look forward to even more client sessions.  I also have been working on a website for a group of volunteers in South Carolina.  I love designing websites and getting them to work but this one really took a lot out of me this week.  I struggled with a problem that I didn’t think I could solve but I did and now they are happy and so am I.

My daughter asked for a recipe today and I thought I would include it as it is a favorite.[mpprecipe-recipe:3]

Remember if you are interested in a one hour FREE Health History Consultation either in person or via Skype I would love to take the time to talk with you and to see whether our conversation could be the “One Conversation that could change your life”.  Please email me if you are interested.  I am most interested in you and what your goals are.

Have a wonderful week.

  1. You found that dog because you cared enough to pursue, even though I seems all was lost. This is you, this is why you are so successful in life. No matter what is in your way you push through it. That is why I love you so much! You have a lesson for everyone and everything.

I would like to have a little consult with you, but worry that we know each other too well, and are such intimate friends. What do you think?

Have a great day! Love you, Sue

Recipe sounds good – will try it!
