Week 7 – Travelin’

We left behind our amaryllis that was getting ready to bloom and the wonderful greenery in the sun room and headed south for a week or so. We headed to Asheville with a couple of stops along the way. Stopped in New York State to visit good friends and enjoy a fabulous dinner and then on to Staunton, Virginia where we stayed at a unique Inn and enjoyed a meal at one of our favorite restaurants. Then we arrived in Asheville and we were greeted by our extremely cute and youngest grandchild.

Valentine’s Week

It was Valentine’s Day this week and we celebrated in style this year. We always seem to make the most of every Hallmark (or not) holiday and this was no exception. Valentine’s were all over the place and just when I had given up hope of seeing some roses they arrived. One year John ordered these from an on-line place when we lived in South Carolina and they arrived frozen. However, he has continued to get them from the same place (they replaced the original ones) and they get better every year. This year they were lovely and he sent them to “the ladies of Jenny Lane”. Love it.

We joined friends for a delicious charcuterie board and wine for a perfect evening to end the day. I have never seen such a lovely spread of so many yummy things. So much fun.

The Best Behaved Dogs – Ever

When we arrived in Asheville we went with our family to meet friends to celebrate a birthday at a local brewery (where else in Asheville?) and we met these pups. Dogs are every where in Asheville but these guys stood out because of their incredible behavior with their human. He actually told them to sit on the table and to wait for their picture to be taken. They were adorable. I think I took about 10 pictures of them and I can’t decide which is the best. There is no way Bean and Wyke would do this but aren’t these guys just great?

An Adventure with Edie B

We went exploring with Edie B today. They will move in the late spring to a new location and we discovered today that there are some wonderful trails to explore right there on the property. Edie led us through the woods, tripped on a few roots, came to intersections and announced “we have some decisions to make” and kept us going. She talked non-stop, just like her mum used to do with my mother when they would go tromping in the woods, and we had a ball. It is lovely to be here.
